Local Attractions

We are conveniently located only 5 minutes from the beauty and wildness of Bodmin Moor and less than 30 mins from the Eden Project at St.Austell. For city shopping Plymouth and Truro are both less than 1 hours drive away. The original discount shopping store Trago Mills, is a stone’s throw away near Liskeard.

Historical fishing ports of Looe and Polperro are also only 20 minutes away. Looe has all the traditional seaside attractions, including a lovely sandy beach. Charlestown (near St.Austell) is a pretty fishing port, often used as a film location, including in the recent Poldark adaptation. There are tall ships and a Maritime Museum, antique shops and good places to eat and nice pubs to sample real ales. A little further afield you can find Bude and Tintagel, steeped in the legends of King Arthur, Newquay with its surfing beaches and St.Ives with its Galleries and culture.

The internationally recognised St.Mellion Golf course in only 7 miles away.

There are many beautiful National Trust houses and gardens which depict the real beauty of Cornwall. Lanhydrock is situated less than 15 miles away near Bodmin and Cotehele is approximately 8 miles away towards Callington.

The ‘Sterts Open Air Theatre’ is within walking distance of Woodpeckers and provides a wide variety of entertainment from plays to music events. ‘The Manor House Inn’ is the local village pub within strolling distance which serves lovely home cooked food, real ales and a good local atmosphere.

The Green wedding venue is close enough to walk to, for anyone attending a wedding we are an ideal location for your stay.

There are some lovely walks through the local river valleys and woodland surrounding Rilla Mill, as well as the great expanse of Bodmin Moor to explore, a paradise for those who love the outdoors. We have walk maps available for 1 to 5 mile walks in and around the village of Rilla Mill.

A variety of lakes are nearby, including Siblyback, Roadford and Dozmary Pool on Bodmin Moor. Some have both leisure facilities such as sailing and wake boarding as well as beautiful nature and bird life to enjoy.

ns (near St.Neot) are worth a visit for those interested in exploring beneath the surface, the tour of this fascinating cave (once used as a Naval Rum Store) is very good. Carngalze is also an unusual venue for concerts, running a programme of events throughout the year.
